The videos are playing in the background under an error message.

It sounds like your Adaway or other ad blocker is interfering with the Android app.   Even if you are premium and not seeing ads, our app still needs access to the metrics side of things.  
 
You can turn off the ad blocker or you can just whitelist our metrics that are here: metrics.brightcove.com 
 
We do want you to be able to enjoy the videos but we can't really do tech support for ad blockers so if you have more questions, please see your ad blocker's web site.
