How can I use the offline viewing feature of the Crunchyroll application?
Offline viewing is available for Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan premium members. Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan members can log into their Crunchyroll account in the application, and when selecting a video can choose to sync the episode to their device for viewing even when there is no Internet connection. Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan members can also choose to download entire seasons to their Nintendo Switch™ to easily take multiple episodes with them on the go.
In which countries is the Crunchyroll application for Nintendo Switch available?
The Crunchyroll application for Nintendo Switch™ is available for download from Nintendo eShop storefronts in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. The app can be used in any of the 200+ countries where Crunchyroll as a service is available.
Is there any limit to how many offline viewing videos can be synced to my Nintendo Switch™ at any given time?
No, there is no limit to the number of videos that can be synced at any given time. You are limited, however, by how much free space is available on your microSD™ card or your internal storage.
Do I need a microSD™ card to use offline viewing for the Crunchyroll app?
As offline viewing can use large amounts of data, it is strongly recommended (but not required) that users utilize a microSD™ card. If a microSD™ card is installed in the Nintendo Switch™, offline content will be synced directly to the microSD™ card. If the device does not have a microSD™ card installed, offline content will be synced directly to the device’s internal storage. If there is not enough space available for offline viewing, you will see an error message when attempting to sync the content.
Can I restrict access to the Crunchyroll app?
Yes, you can restrict access to the Crunchyroll app using Parental Controls. To do so, set the Restriction Level to Child or Pre-Teen. If using Custom Settings, select Games rated for ages 13+ or below.
For more information, see How to Set Up or Adjust Nintendo Switch Parental Controls.
Can I watch mature content in the Crunchyroll app?
Mature content playback is restricted by default in the Crunchyroll app and requires an authenticated user account with the mature content playback setting explicitly enabled. This setting can be enabled through the Crunchyroll website:
- Go to My Account.
- Then, go to Preferences.
- Enable the Mature Video Content.
Can I stream content while syncing offline content?
No. If you begin playing a video while downloading offline content, the syncing of offline content to your Nintendo Switch™ will be paused. Once you stop playing a video, the application will automatically resume syncing so long as the software is open.
Can I save offline content to both a microSD™ card and my Nintendo Switch™ internal storage?
No, you will only be able to save content to either a microSD™ card (if inserted) or to your device’s internal storage (if no microSD™ card is used).
Can I choose whether offline content is saved to my microSD™ card or to my device’s internal storage?
No, the application will automatically prioritize using any inserted microSD™ card for offline viewing storage purposes and will fall back to the device’s internal storage if no microSD™ card is present.
What happens if my Nintendo Switch™ application is closed or goes to sleep before I have synced all my offline content?
If the application is closed or is suspended, the application will automatically pause any syncing of offline content. Once the application is opened again and can connect to the Internet, syncing of offline content will resume.
How can I prevent my Nintendo Switch™ from auto-dimming the screen or putting itself to sleep when watching video content?
You can adjust your Nintendo Switch™ Sleep Mode settings to set the Auto-Sleep duration to a value that allows you to watch your desired content without interruption. Please refer to Nintendo Support for how to adjust your Sleep Mode settings for your version of Nintendo Switch™.
