Seeing a black screen, blank screen, or constant stuttering while watching? Here are some quick steps to help fix the issue.
Try these quick fixes
- Turn off ad blockers: Some ad blockers can interfere with video playback.
- Use incognito/private mode: If videos play fine there, one of your extensions may be the cause.
- Switch browsers: Try another browser that Crunchyroll supports.
- Update your browser: Make sure you’re on the latest version.
Current Supported Browser versions
If you’re seeing issues like a black screen or stuttering, check that your browser is up to date. Crunchyroll works best on these versions (or anything newer):
| Browser | Supported versions |
| Chrome | 117+ |
| Firefox | 117+ |
| Edge | 117+ |
| Safari | 16.1+ |
Getting to the right servers
If you’re having trouble streaming your favorite shows, the issue may be your DNS settings. In many cases, switching to the right DNS server solves the problem.
You’ll find complete instructions on how to change your DNS by using OpenDNS.com’s setup guide. We’d try this first, as their servers are only in the U.S. and Europe, kind of like having your own hero agency looking out for you!
If this doesn’t help, you can also try Google Public DNS. This DNS change often works well with ongoing video problems.
