While watching your favorite shows, you may encounter audio-related issues. Distorted audio, inconsistent volume levels, audio that is out-of-sync with the video player, or audio dropouts may appear and surprise you. These might occur due to several factors:
- Issues with the connection to external devices: Cable to the TV, sound system.
- Unstable Internet connection: using mobile data, wired connection, being too far away from the modem, or multiple devices connected to the internet source that may slow down the signal.
Luckily, we’re armed with a variety of solutions for all your audio issue-related issues depending on your device:
Browser
These steps are perfect for all browsers supported by Crunchyroll:
- Remove any ad-blocking extensions from your browser
- Turn off VPNs and antiviruses
- Disable all extensions, and monitor the difference, if any.
- Delete cache and cookies from your browser and ensure it is updated.
Refresh the page with Ctrl+F5 (on Windows) or Shift+Cmd+R (on Mac)
Mobile
You can apply these steps to both iOS and Android devices.
- Make sure your device is updated with the latest iOS/Android version.
- Close other web pages and apps, especially the ones that constantly refresh.
- Deactivate any VPN if you are using it
- Uninstall the Crunchyroll app, then reinstall it.
Roku
For Roku devices, reinstalling the app can help fix the issue!
- Select Home from the main menu
- Clear the cache by following these steps on your remote control:
- Press Home 5 times
- Press Up, then rewind 2 times. Then, press Fast Forward 2 times.
- Note: It will take about 15-30 seconds to clear the cache and restart.
- Now you can uninstall the app from the device, then reinstall the Crunchyroll app.
Apple TV
Using an Apple TV? We’ll walk you through a simple installation.
- Uninstall the app
- Go to Settings→System and select Restart to restart the Apple TV app.
- Unplug your TV and your Apple TV from power, then plug them both back in.
- Install the Crunchyroll app
Android TV
If your chosen device is an Android TV, you can solve audio problems by restarting your device.
- Using the remote control, navigate to the Home screen of your Android TV.
- Go to the Settings menu. You can typically find the Settings icon represented by a gear or cogwheel.
- In the Settings menu, scroll down and select the Device Preferences or Device option. The exact wording may vary depending on your Android TV device and the version of Android it is running.
- Select the Restart or Reboot option and confirm your selection if prompted. Your Android TV will now begin the restart process. It may take a few moments for the device to shut down and start up again.
- Uninstall the Crunchyroll App and reinstall it.
Amazon Fire TV / Fire Stick
Here, we’ll remedy your audio problems by restarting the Fire Stick, clearing your cache and re-installing the app:
- Press the Home key on your remote to access the home window of your Fire Stick.
- Navigate to the middle of the home window and locate the menu options.
- Choose the option labeled My Fire TV from the menu.
- Scroll down the page a bit to find the option for Restart and select it.
- Click on the Restart option again to confirm your selection.
- Allow your Fire Stick some time to restart. You may see a message on the screen indicating that it is Powering Off.
Clear cache and data. Clearing the cache on a Fire Stick can help improve the device’s performance and free up storage space.
- Go to Settings> Applications> Manage installed applications
- Select Crunchyroll App
- Choose Clear cache and clear data.
Uninstall the Crunchyroll App:
- Navigate to the app.
- Press the 3 lines icon on your Fire Stick remote and on your screen and select Uninstall
- Unplug the Fire Stick from the TV and its power source, reconnect it, and try again.
Nintendo Switch
Let’s turn off the console to reinstall the app and solve any audio issues.
- Turn off the console. Hold down the Power button until you see Power Options, then select Turn Off.
- Hold down the volume up and volume down buttons, then press the power button.
- Continue holding the buttons until Maintenance Mode loads
- Choose Initialize Console Without Deleting Save Data, then select OK.
- Clear your cache and delete any Crunchyroll app data
- Uninstall the app from the device
- Reinstall the Crunchyroll app.
PlayStation (PS4/PS5)
- Clear your cache and delete any Crunchyroll app data:

- Press and Hold: On your controller, press and hold the PlayStation button.
- Choose: From the menu that appears, select the option labeled "Turn Off PS's".
- Wait: Allow the PS's power light in front to stop blinking. This indicates that the console has powered off completely.
- Unplug: Once the power light has stopped blinking, unplug the PS's power cable from the power source.
- Turn On: Now, plug the power cable back in and turn your PS back on.
- Uninstall the app from the device
- Reinstall the Crunchyroll app.
Xbox
Xbox One:

Restart from the Power Center:
- Press and hold the Xbox button in the center of your Xbox controller to open the Power Center
- Select Restart console.
- Select Restart.
- Restart from the guide:

- Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
- Select Profile & System > Settings > General > Power options.
- Select Restart Now.
- Physically power cycle the console:

- Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.
- Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. Repeat steps if you don't see the green boot-up animation when the console restarts
Note: If your console is in Sleep mode, the above steps will shut the console off completely. Sleep mode, or the ability to turn on your console by saying “Xbox on,” won't be enabled until you restart the console.* - Uninstall the Crunchyroll App to make sure you have the most recent version.
