Ready to master Picture-in-Picture (PiP) on your device? Here’s everything you need to know about this handy feature.
What can I do in PiP?
PiP is a multi-window mode that makes watching anime seamless. When you tap the PiP player, you’ll see controls to:
- Skip forward or back 10 seconds
- Pause or close your episode
- Resize the player by double-tapping (small, medium, large)
- Move or “hide” the player by dragging it off-screen, then tap the arrow to bring it back
Does PiP support auto-play?
Yes! As long as you have PiP activated in the video player it will automatically play your next episode. Perfect for binging sessions!
Does PiP support subtitles?
Absolutely! PiP supports subtitles, but keep in mind, you may experience a bit of a delay when the player retrieves the stream.
Can I scan forward, trick scrub, or triple tap?
Take full advantage of the ten second skip feature because PiP does not support trick scrub or triple tap at this time. Stay tuned!
What happens if I get a call while in PiP?
If you get a call or FaceTime, playback pauses automatically. You can restart during the call by tapping the player when you’re ready.
Can I use PiP in landscape mode?
Yes, you can watch in landscape mode! On most devices, PiP follows your device’s screen rotation, so you can switch between portrait and landscape. If you’re using the PiP button inside the Crunchyroll app, it currently works best in portrait.
Do notifications still appear in PiP?
Yes. You’ll continue to receive device notifications while watching in PiP.
