SharePlay lets you obsess over your favorite anime with friends in real time over FaceTime! Everyone sees the same thing at the same time, no matter where they are!

Which controls are available while watching on SharePlay?
You can:
- Play/Pause
- Skip to next episode
- Jump forward/backward 10 seconds
- Scroll
When one person in your viewing party taps a control, it affects playback for everyone. It’s like you are all in the same room!
What devices and apps do I need to use SharePlay?
You can enjoy SharePlay with the crew on the following devices:
- iPhones and iPads with iOS 15.1 or later.
- Apple TV 4K (2nd Gen or later) with tvOS 15.1 or later.
- Apple Vision Pro (U.S. only).
You’ll also need the Crunchyroll app:
- iOS/visionOS - version 4.16.0 or higher.
- Apple TV - version 3.9.0 or higher.
To check which version of the app you have:
- Crunchyroll App - Open the app > Account tab > scroll to the bottom.
- iOS version - Apple Settings > General > About > Software Version. If needed, update by going to Apple Settings > General > Software Update.
- Apple TV model - Apple Settings → General → About → Model. Once you have the model number check out this article to identify your Apple TV model and generation.
Do I need a Premium membership to join?
Correct. In order to join the SharePlay session, everyone participating needs to have:
- Crunchyroll app installed on their phone or tablet
- Premium membership (free users can’t join)
Is SharePlay available internationally?
Yes! SharePlay works internationally on iOS and Apple TV. Apple Vision Pro is currently U.S. only.
Content may not be available everywhere. If a show isn’t licensed in your area, you won’t be able to watch it through SharePlay.
How do I start a SharePlay session?
Creating a SharePlay session is a breeze! Follow these steps to get it set up:
To start a SharePlay session on iOS and Apple Vision Pro:
- Navigate to the Crunchyroll app.
- Start a FaceTime call on your iOS device.
- Go to the watch page of your favorite anime show and scroll to the bottom.
- Tap SharePlay to start the adventure.
To start a SharePlay session on Apple TV:
- Open the Crunchyroll app on your Apple TV.
- Start a Facetime call on your iOS device.
- Press and hold the TV/ Control Center button
on your Apple TV Remote.
- Choose SharePlay.
- Select Start on Apple TV.
- Tap the prompt on your iPhone or iPad to confirm your viewing
- Start an episode and your friends will receive a prompt to join the fun!
How do I end a SharePlay session?
Follow the steps below to end a session:
On iOS and Apple Vision Pro:
- On the watch page, tap SharePlay.
- Confirm you want to end the session.
On Apple TV:
- Press and hold the TV/Control Center button
- Select SharePlay.
- Confirm you want to end the session.
How many people can join my session?
Up to 33 people can join (the FaceTime limit) to assemble the ultimate anime team!
Can I watch my downloads or live streams in SharePlay?
SharePlay only supports streaming content at this time. Downloads and live streams aren’t supported just yet.
