Widgets are shortcuts you can add to your home screen for quick access to glanceable information. In addition to being on your Home Screen, widgets are also viewable from Today View by swiping right from the Home Screen or Lock Screen. Many widgets have the ability to interact with them, for example, tap to launch an app.
Currently, the iOS app only (version 4.22.0 and above) supports one widget, available in multiple sizes. Our first will be a Continue Watching widget. The Continue Watching widget will show episodes in progress and allow you to open the app to the exact episode and continue watching, at the right spot, with one tap.

How do I install a widget?
First, make sure you’re on iOS 14 or later. Then, make sure you’ve downloaded the latest iOS version (4.22.0). After installation, to add widgets from your Home Screen, touch and hold an empty area until the apps jiggle. Tap the Add button (the plus button in the upper right or left corner). When the search bar appears, find the Crunchyroll widget stack. Scroll to the desired widget size. Select Add Widget. Position on the screen. When done, just tap an empty section of the home screen to lock your widget in place.
Can I also add a widget to my Today View?
Definitely! The process is the same as adding to your Home Screen: touch and hold an empty area until the widgets jiggle. Tap the Add button (plus button in the upper right or left corner). When the search bar appears, find the Crunchyroll widget stack. Scroll to the desired widget size. Select Add Widget. Position on the screen. When done, just tap an empty section of the home screen to lock your widget in place.
How do I remove a widget?
Long press on the widget you’d like to remove. When the menu appears, just select Remove Widget.
How do I add a widget to a Smart Stack?
If you’re looking to save screen real estate, you can add widgets into a Smart Stack. Think of a stack as a collection of widgets all inside one container. To add the widget to a Smart Stack, just long press any widget and drop it on the widget you’d like in the Smart Stack. Then tap on any empty area to lock the widgets in place. Now, you can manually scroll your Smart Stack or let AI do the magic! To edit your stack, just long press. Here you can reorder or remove any widget.
If I remove a widget, will I remove the episode from my Continue Watching list?
Nope. It just removes the widget from your home screen.
Can I add more than one Crunchyroll widget?
Absolutely! You can add every size of the Continue Watching widget and multiple copies of the widget if you want to customize any of your device screens.
Do widgets support dark mode, and if so, how do I activate it?
Absolutely! Just go to Settings -> Display & Brightness. There you will have the option to change your device to dark mode and have the widgets appear in dark mode.
Does Crunchyroll have plans to add more widgets?
We are always looking to add new functionality for our various apps, and depending on the adoption rate of this particular widget, we may add more. Just let us know if you have a widget you’d like us to implement.
Are widgets available for tablets?
Definitely! Widgets are also available for iPads and they support extra-large widgets.
Are widgets only available to premium users?
Widgets are available to all registered users.
What happens if I go offline or I’m in Airplane mode?
If you go offline or in Airplane mode, widgets will follow suit and go offline.
What happens if I log out?
You will also be logged out of your widget. You’ll need to log in for the widget to be functional.
What happens if I load the Crunchyroll app and I have nothing in Continue Watching?
Your widgets will be in an “empty” state. Just begin watching content. Any shows that are not completed will show up in your Continue Watching queue and also populate on your widgets, totally in sync.
Are widgets supported in all countries?
Yes. Widgets will be available in any country.
Do other platforms support widgets?
Currently, the Android team is exploring widgets. Until then, iOS is the only platform that supports widgets.
