What’s the difference between a pre-order and a backorder?
-
Pre-order: A pre-order item is a product you can order before it’s officially released. Your order will ship as soon as it arrives in our warehouse, and you’ll be charged at the time it ships.
-
Backorder: A backordered item is a product that’s temporarily out of stock. Once it’s restocked, your order ships right away. You’ll be charged at the time it ships.
What payment methods can I use?
- Pre-orders and backorders: You can only purchase pre-order or backordered items using a credit card or Crunchyroll Gift Cards.
- In-stock items: Credit cards, Crunchyroll Gift Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Sezzle.
When will you charge my credit card for backorders or backordered items?
For both pre-orders and backorders:
- Your card is charged when your order is prepared for shipment.
- At purchase, you may see a temporary authorization hold. This disappears in a few days.
How accurate are pre-order release dates?
We work closely with suppliers to keep release dates up to date. However, delays can sometimes happen. If a release date changes, we’ll update the item’s store page with the new information.
The pre-order window has closed. Can I still purchase it?
Sometimes! Once a product is released, additional units may be available. Enter your email on the product page to be notified if it becomes available again.
Why did a pre-order item close early?
Pre-orders may close early if:
- The vendor requests it.
- The item sells out before the deadline.
Can I cancel my pre-order?
- Not shipped yet: Contact Crunchyroll Support, and we’ll help cancel your pre-order.
- Already shipped or processing for shipment: Cancellation isn’t possible, but you can request a return after it arrives.
What happens if my order contains multiple pre-order products?
- If products have different release dates, they’ll ship separately.
- If products share the same release date, they’ll ship together.
You’ll receive a shipping confirmation email for each shipment.
My pre-order was canceled. What happened?
While rare, cancellations can happen due to:
- Quantity limitations
- Manufacturer errors
- Inaccurate pricing
- Fraud checks
If this happens, you’ll receive an email explaining why.
Ordering early means never missing out on your favorites—so pre-order, backorder, and keep collecting with confidence!
