Being billed twice is never fun. (◞‸ ◟). Here are the most common reasons it happens and what you can do to get it corrected quickly.
Check for duplicate charges
If you think you’ve been charged twice for your Crunchyroll subscription, here’s what to do:
- Check for multiple subscriptions. Sometimes duplicate charges happen if you have more than one Crunchyroll account or subscribed through different platforms (like Google Play or Apple).
- Confirm both charges. Review your bank or card statement to make sure both payments came from Crunchyroll.
- If the issue continues, contact Crunchyroll Support with a screenshot of both charges. We’ll be happy to review your account and help you get it sorted.
- Once we confirm the duplicate payment, we’ll refund the extra charge to your original payment method. Refunds usually appear on your statement within 2–10 business days.
Delayed payments
Sometimes payments don’t go through right away—for example, if there aren’t enough funds or if there’s a bank communication delay. When that happens, the system will automatically retry the payment during a grace period (30 days for most payment methods, 15 days for PayPal).
Because of this, a delayed payment can overlap with your next billing date. On your statement, it may look like two charges for the same month, but it’s actually one charge for the current period and one for the previous period. In total, you’re still only paying once per billing cycle.
Multiple subscriptions
It’s possible to have more than one Crunchyroll account with an active subscription and not realize it. You may have one account linked to Google Play or your Apple ID, for example, and another through a partner service like Amazon. This can cause duplicate charges.
What should I do?
- Search all of your email inboxes for Crunchyroll receipts or account emails.
- Check the website, the Crunchyroll app, and any subscription services you use (Amazon Prime, YouTube, or the Roku Channel) for active subscriptions.
- If you find you have multiple Premium accounts, cancel whichever one you don’t want.
To cancel your subscription through a payment platform or partner service, like Apple, The Roku Channel, or Amazon Prime, you’ll need to go through your account on that service.
System errors
In very rare cases, a system error can cause duplicate charges. If you’ve done some digging and found the first two cases don’t apply, reach out to us at Crunchyroll Support. We can help you determine whether it’s an error or something else that’s causing duplicate charges. We’re available to support you 24/7.
