What's UPI?
UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is a payment method that allows you to make purchases directly from your bank account using supported UPI apps or banking services.
How Do UPI Payments Work?
Select UPI at checkout.
Authorize the payment through your preferred UPI or bank app when prompted.
- You will be asked to set up a UPI AutoPay mandate to Crunchyroll on your selected app.
- UPI Autopay automatically handles your future subscription renewals so you don't have to pay manually each billing cycle.
- This process may involve a ₹1 payment, which will be automatically refunded.
Once your bank and the payment network confirm the AutoPay, your Crunchyroll subscription purchase will be instantly activated, and the payment will be deducted.
Note on the ₹1 Charge: If you see a temporary charge of ₹1, this is a standard pre-authorization charge used by your bank to validate your account. It will be automatically reversed. For more details on how this works, check out this article.
I paid. Why isn’t my subscription active yet?
Your bank account is charged as soon as you approve the UPI request. However, because payments rely on communication between multiple banks and networks, final confirmation can sometimes face minor delays due to high network volume or temporary bank interruptions.
If your money was deducted but your subscription isn't active yet, please don't attempt the payment again, as this can result in duplicate charges. Instead, please allow up to 24 hours for the payment network to automatically resolve and confirm the transaction.
What If My Payment Fails?
If a payment fails, your subscription won't activate. Occasionally, your bank might temporarily hold the funds even for a failed attempt. Don't panic—these funds are safely returned to your account according to your bank's standard processing timelines.
