Running into video playback issues on your iOS device? Don’t worry, we’ll help you get back to watching your favorite anime in no time.
Update your device
Make sure your iPhone or iPad is running the latest version of iOS.
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check.

Close other apps
Background apps or browser tabs that constantly refresh can interfere with video playback.
- Swipe up from the bottom of your screen (or double-press the Home button on older devices).
- Close all apps except Crunchyroll.
Turn off VPN
VPNs are not supported and can cause issues with speed, compatibility, or content availability.
- Go to Settings > VPN and make sure it’s turned off.
Reinstall the Crunchyroll app
Sometimes a clean install helps:
- Delete the Crunchyroll app from your device.
- Reinstall it from the App Store.
- Log back in and test playback again
