General fixes for all devices
Try these first before diving into device-specific steps:
- Check your router: Make sure it has stable power and internet lights. If not, unplug it, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Router placement: Keep it in a central location, away from walls, metal objects, or other electronics that can block the signal.
- Update everything: Make sure your Crunchyroll app and device software (OS) are up to date.
- Reduce network congestion: Disconnect devices not in use, or limit the number of devices using your network.
Use the instructions below to change the DNS server on the device you’re troubleshooting.
Windows
- Open Settings > Network & Internet
- If you’re on Wi-Fi: select Wi-Fi and click your connected network.
- If you’re on Ethernet: select Ethernet and click your connected network.
- Scroll down to DNS server assignment and click Edit
- In the drop-down, choose Manual.
- Toggle IPv4 to On.
- Enter DNS addresses
- For Cloudflare DNS:
- Preferred DNS: 1.1.1.1
- Alternate DNS: 1.0.0.1
- For Google DNS:
- Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4
- For Cloudflare DNS:
- Click Save, then reconnect to the network if needed.
Mac
- Click the Apple menu > System Settings.
- Select Wi-Fi in the left sidebar.
- Click the Details button ( ⓘ ) next to your connected Wi-Fi network.
- Open the DNS tab.
- Click the + button and enter your DNS server addresses:
- Cloudflare DNS:
- Preferred: 1.1.1.1
- Alternate: 1.0.0.1
- Google DNS
- Preferred: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate: 8.8.4.4
- Cloudflare DNS:
- Click OK, then Apply to save
Android
Note: Steps may vary by device manufacturer.
- Open Settings > Network & Internet.
- Select More connection settings > Private DNS.
- Choose Private DNS provider hostname.
- Enter one of the following hostnames:
- For Cloudflare DNS: one.one.one.one
- For Google Public DNS: dns.google
- Tap Save.
iOS
Note: These steps apply only for Wi-Fi connections. If you want to change the DNS settings using Cellular Network, you will need to download a DNS Changer app from the App Store.
- Venture into the Settings app and go to Wi-Fi.
- Tap on the icon next to your connected Wi-Fi network.
- Scroll down, tap DNS, and enter your chosen DNS server:
- Cloudflare DNS:
- Preferred DNS Server: 1.1.1.1
- Alternate DNS Server: 1.0.0.1
- Google Public DNS Servers:
- Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.4.4
- Cloudflare DNS:
- Save your changes.
Apple TV
Note: These steps affect Wi-Fi connections.If you want to change the DNS settings using Cellular Network, you will need to download a DNS Changer app from the App Store.
- Open the Settings on your Apple TV and select Network.
- Select Wi-Fi and choose your network.
- Scroll down to find Configure DNS and change it to Manual.
- Change it to Manual
- Enter your chosen DNS Address. Note that you can only adjust the primary DNS.
- Cloudflare DNS:
- Preferred DNS Server: 1.1.1.1
- Alternate DNS Server: 1.0.0.1
- Google Public DNS Servers:
- Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.4.4
- Cloudflare DNS:
- Press Done to save.
Android TV

Head to the Settings on your Smart TV (usually a cogwheel icon).

Go to Network & Internet, write down the IP address, then press IP settings.

Switch to Static and enter your IP address.

Confirm the network prefix is 24, if not, go ahead and change it to 24.

Amazon Fire TV/ Firestick
- Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About > Network and write down the information.
- Go to Settings, then Network. Select your Wi-Fi Network, click the (☰) button on your remote and select Forget this Network.
- Select your Wi-Fi Network again, write the password, and click Advanced.
- Enter the IP address and Gateway from earlier.
- For Subnet Mask, enter 24 (if 255.255.255.0) or 32 (if 225.225.225.225).
- Enter your primary and secondary DNS.
- Cloudflare DNS:
- Preferred DNS Server: 1.1.1.1
- Alternate DNS Server: 1.0.0.1
- Google Public DNS Servers:
- Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.4.4
- Cloudflare DNS:
Nintendo Switch
- Navigate to Settings, select Internet, then Internet Settings.
- Select your network from Registered Networks.
- Go to Change Settings, then scroll down and select DNS Settings.
- Choose Manual, go to Primary DNS, then hold down the B button to delete the DNS (it defaults to zero)
- Enter your primary DNS, then select OK
- Cloudflare DNS Primary: 1.1.1.1
- Google Public DNS Primary: 208.67.220.220
- Select Secondary DNS, then hold down the B button to delete the existing DNS
- Enter your secondary DNS, then select OK
- Cloudflare DNS Secondary: 1.0.0.1
- Google Public DNS Secondary Server: 8.8.4.4

- Navigate to Settings, select Network.
- Go to Set Up Internet Connection.

- Select Advanced Settings and go to DNS.
